**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Pre-Procedure Care**:

- Assess the patient’s medical history, including any allergies, previous heart issues, or medication usage.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including explaining the process and answering questions.
- Ensure that appropriate consents are obtained and that the necessary pre-procedure tests are completed.
- Administer medications as ordered by the physician (e.g., sedation, pain relief).
- **During the Procedure**:

- Assist the interventional cardiologist and other healthcare team members during cardiac procedures (angiography, stent placement, balloon angioplasty, etc.).
- Monitor the patient’s vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels, during the procedure.
- Prepare and handle equipment such as catheters and contrast media, ensuring everything is sterile and ready for use.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field.
- **Post-Procedure Care**:

- Monitor patients in the recovery area after the procedure to assess for complications (e.g., bleeding, infection, arrhythmias).
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-procedure care, including lifestyle changes, medications, and follow-up appointments.
- Ensure patients are stable before they are discharged, and assist with discharging procedures.
- Maintain documentation of the procedure, patient response, and any interventions performed.
- **Emergency Response**:

- Act quickly in case of an emergency, such as arrhythmias, allergic reactions, or sudden complications, and assist in initiating life-saving measures.
- Be prepared to assist with resuscitation and other critical interventions as necessary.
- **Collaboration**:

- Work closely with cardiologists, radiologists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Participate in team meetings and case discussions, providing insights into patient care and outcomes.
- **Equipment Maintenance**:

- Ensure that equipment is regularly checked, maintained, and calibrated to ensure proper functioning during procedures.
- Assist in cleaning and sterilizing equipment after procedures.
- **Patient Education**:

- Provide clear and compassionate communication with patients and families to ensure they understand the procedure and the follow-up care needed.
- Educate patients about risk factors for cardiovascular disease, medication management, and lifestyle adjustments to improve heart health.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- **BSC / DGNM in Nursing.**:

- Registered Nurse (RN) with an active nursing license.
- Cardiovascular or critical care nursing experience is often preferred.
- Specialized training in catheterization lab procedures or certifications like **Cardiac Vascular Nursing (RN-BC)** or **Certified Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse (CVOR)** are often required or preferred.
