Supervises: Slickline Crew (Operators, Assistants, Helpers)

1. Position Summary

 The Slickline Engineer is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing

slickline operations at the wellsite, ensuring that all activities are performed safely,

efficiently, and in accordance with client requirements, company policies, and

industry standards (API, ISO, IWCF).

 The role combines technical engineering knowledge, operational expertise, and

leadership to deliver reliable well intervention and completion services

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Pre‐Job Planning & Preparation

 Review job programs, well schematics, and client requirements to determine

operational objectives.

 Select and prepare appropriate slickline tools, equipment, and wire sizes for each

job.

 Conduct pre‐job safety meetings (Toolbox Talks) and ensure crew understanding

of job scope, risks, and control measures.

 Verify all slickline equipment, pressure control assemblies, and safety devices are

properly maintained, pressure‐tested, and certified.

 Coordinate mobilization of tools, consumables, and support equipment to the

wellsite.

B. Field Operations

 Supervise all slickline well intervention activities, including:
 Running and pulling subsurface safety valves (SSSV).

 Setting and retrieving plugs, flow control devices, and gauges.

 Memory gauge surveys and downhole sampling.

 Fishing operations (wire, tool string, junk retrieval).

 Swabbing and drift runs.

 Well integrity and completion maintenance tasks.

 Ensure compliance with company and client safety standards (H₂S, pressure

control, lifting operations, confined space, etc.).

 Maintain accurate well depth control and calibration records.

 Record operational data (runs, tools used, pressures, times) in real‐time and report deviations to the supervisor.

 Liaise directly with the Company Man / Well Engineer on‐site to coordinate job

execution and changes.

C. Post‐Job & Reporting

 Conduct post‐job debriefs with crew and client representatives.

 Prepare and submit daily job reports, tool run sheets, and job tickets.

 Perform post‐job equipment inspections and report any damage or maintenance

needs.

 Analyze job data and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement

reports.

 Ensure all job‐related documentation (pressure test certificates, permits,

equipment lists) is properly filed and traceable.

D. Technical & Engineering Support

 Assist in job design, tool string configuration, and risk assessment for complex

slickline operations.

 Support equipment troubleshooting and provide field‐level engineering input for

operational optimization.

 Recommend improvements in tool design, maintenance, and operational

methods.

 Support development and implementation of SOPs (Standard Operating

Procedures).

 Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure proper tool assembly and

functionality.

E. HSE & Quality Assurance

 Promote and maintain HSE culture at all times among slickline crews.

 Ensure compliance with all QHSE procedures, including Permit‐to‐Work (PTW),

JSA, PPE, and Lockout/Tagout.

 Stop unsafe work immediately and report unsafe acts or conditions.

 Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), hazard identification, and toolbox meetings

before each operation.

 Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis as required.

 Ensure all pressure control operations comply with API RP 6A, 16A, and company

safety standards.

3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

 Operational efficiency / NPT: ≤ 2%.

 Zero HSE incidents or lost‐time injuries.

 Job execution within client and program specifications.

 Accurate and timely reporting (100%).

 Client satisfaction rating: ≥ 90%.

Equipment utilization and readiness: ≥ 98%.

4. Qualifications & Experience

**Education**:
 Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or

equivalent technical discipline).

**Experience**:
 Minimum 3-6 years of slickline operational experience, including 1-2 years in a

supervisory/engineering capacity.

Certifications:
 IWCF Level 2 or 3 (Well Intervention Pressure Control - Slickline).

 H₂S & BA, First Aid, Firefighting, and Permit‐to‐Work Training.

 Lifting and Pressure Control Awareness.

 Valid offshore survival (BOSIET) if required.

5. Skills & Competencies

 Deep understanding of slickline tools, equipment, and pressure control systems.

 Competent in downhole well intervention principles and wellbore schematics

interpretation.

 Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for equipment and downhole

operations.

 Familiar with wireline depth measurement systems, load cells, and tension

monitoring.

 Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting software.

 Strong communication and leadership skills to manage crews and interact with

clients.
