The nurse always provides preventive and/or curative care aimed at maintaining or restoring health. If the health deteriorates, he/she will guide the resident through their dying process, with absolute respect for the resident's own will and desires, as well as those of their family.

The nurse is under the supervision of and reports directly to the department head, with whom they work closely. The nurse replaces the department head in her absence.
