L2 Kafka Administrator

**The Position**:
**Preferred Qualifications**:

- 5 to 7 years of Industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 3 to 4 years of relevant experience

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for Kafka-related issues escalated from L1 support.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement long-term solutions.
- Optimize Kafka cluster performance, including tuning configurations and managing resource utilization.
- Implement and manage Kafka security configurations, including SSL/TLS, Kerberos, and ACLs.
- Collaborate with Kafka Architect and other team members to plan and execute cluster upgrades and scaling operations.
- Develop and maintain operational scripts for automation and monitoring purposes.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Kafka operations and support procedures.
- Mentor and train L1 support staff to improve their troubleshooting skills and knowledge of Kafka.
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and operational best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24×7 support coverage.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as a Kafka Administrator or in a similar role, with strong knowledge of Confluent Kafka.
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with other messaging systems like RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and DevOps practices.
- Proficiency in Linux system administration.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana).
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and task management.
- In-depth understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Experience with Kafka security implementations (SSL/TLS, Kerberos).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a 24×7 shift environment as part of an on-call rotation.
