**A. Dispensing** - Verify prescriptions against the bill, ensuring accuracy in medicine name, strength, size, and quantity before dispensing. - Stamp all original prescriptions and bills with the "Issued" seal and provide a full signature—initials are not permitted. - Clearly explain medication details, including strength, dosage, timing, and route of administration. This information must also be written on the medicine cover provided to the patient. - For inpatients, ensure that cut tablet strips, suppositories, and other medications are placed in medicine covers with the expiry date clearly noted. - Do not dispense any medication unless it has been billed under cash or credit. - Exercise extra caution while handling Schedule H1 and narcotic drugs by double-checking the bill against the prescription. - Report any medication errors to the Pharmacy In-charge promptly. **B. Returns** - Regularly check for expired medicines and ensure proper handling. - Return medicines to their designated storage racks. - Ensure that medicines purchased from external pharmacies are not returned to the in-house pharmacy. - For OPD (Outpatient Department) returns, obtain written instructions from the doctor before accepting any medication returns. Patients must then be directed to the cash counter for refunds. **C. Documentation** - Accurately enter patient details, prescribed medications, and costs into the pharmacy system to maintain proper records and inventory. - Maintain organized records of prescriptions and billing for compliance and reference. **D. Material Management** - Utilize the designated pharmacy software for efficient material management. - Request required drugs through the material requisition system. The night shift staff is responsible for making requisitions during their shift. - Upon receiving drugs or materials from the pharmacy/central stores, verify the quantity, strength, and size. Arrange medications in their designated places following the **First In, First Out (FIFO)** method. - Monitor drug expiry dates and breakages, ensuring all such details are recorded in the designated register.
