Position: Freelance Handbags & Accessories Designer
An Indo-Pacific start up focusing on contemporary home têxtiles and fashion bags is looking for enthusiastic Handbag design interns/freelancers

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Designing contemporary handbags as per the requirement and brief given with the digital mockups and material textures

2. Drafting the Spec. Sheet and Tech Pack and communicate to the factories selected for the development.

3. Work under Production and Development Responsible guidelines to meet the development deadlines and needs from the brand.

4. Visit the factories to make the necessary developments and Visit the Factories along with the Team when required.

5. Inspect samples (sub-assembly product samples, pilot-run samples or customers samples) including materials, accessories, parts, components etc.

6. Understand and help in Sourcing the Materials and Components that the Development team require and propose Australia & India alternatives if required.

7. Have a clear Briefing and Mapping of all the developments to meet the calendars proposed by the brand and buy the Production and Development Responsible.

8. Factories Follow up

9. Work on new ideas, trends, materials and constructions to present to the team.

10. Knowledge of types of fibres, Vegan Leather, PU, Trims & Components

Weaves of the fabrics, Quality of Vegan Leather and PU, and other organic sustainable materials

Designs of the têxtile like Yarn Dyed, Print, Embroidery, etc

Count construction, GSM and other properties of the têxtile

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:
1. Bags Design and Development Experience
2. Experience in buying houses in Handbags area
3. Experience in Production Factory that supply to International Brands
4. Quick learner
5. Good knowledge of Australian and Indian Handbags Market
6. Sense of Fashion and Style running in Australia & India
7. Experience in Bags companies
8. Good Communications Skills
9. Proficient in relevant 2D/3D softwares like photoshop, illustrator, etc, be a team player and avid learner.
10. Organized and Proactive

EDUCATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accessories Design or related area and/or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years handbag design experience working for a luxury retailer
- High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop and Microsoft office
- Strong hand on Adobe Illustrator, sketching & specing
- Proficient in using softwares like CAD, indesign
- Contemporary handbag designing skills
- Must be able to build all tech packs and pass specs in a detailed, organized and clear manner for factory proto sample making
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good knowledge of Texturing, sculpting, rendering 3D models and Staging and lighting 3D environments
