Provides Retirement Services to Area I and Area II Support Activities in the Republic of Korea.
- Provides Retirement Services to Area I and Area II Support Activities in the Republic of Korea.
- Conducts regular Pre-retirement and SBP briefings for Soldiers and Family members using briefings and other materials furnished by HQDA Retirement Services Office.
- Counsels Soldiers, Retired Soldiers, surviving spouses, and Family members on SBP entitlements; assists retirees with all phases of making SBP elections prior to retirement as directed by 10 USC 1447-1455.
- Ensures that retiring Soldiers review and sign the DA-prescribed SBP Counseling Statement.
- Ensures all Soldiers retiring from the installation completed a DD Form 2656 (Data for Payment of Retired Personnel) prior to their retirement date and processes the DD Form 2656 electronically using the TRANSPROC Installation Support Module (ISM).
- Follows up by mailing the DD Form 2656 and supporting documents to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service-Cleveland Center not later than the 10th day of the month of retirement to prevent a delay in retired pay. Accesses the MyArmy RSO website to order the Army Retiring Soldier Commendation Program package for retiring Soldiers and ensures sufficient supply is on-hand at all times.
- Provides post-retirement services to Retired Soldiers, Gray Area Soldiers, and surviving spouses.
- Advises Retired Soldiers concerning current laws, policies, and programs.
- Provides assistance with Retired pay account updates using DRAS access to change allotments, beneficiary information, mailing address, bank information, tax filing and withholding status, and issuance of IRS Form 1099-R for tax filing purposes.
- Facilitates and participates in Annual Retiree Appreciation Days (RAD) and assists the Garrison Commander with planning for this event.
- Publishes the RSO newsletter annually for all Retired Soldiers and surviving spouses residing within Area II.

**Responsibilities**:
At least five years of experience within the last 10 years in U.S. military (U.S. Army) HR Retirement Services

HQDA Certification: Retirement Services Officer.

HQDA Certification: Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) Counselor.

Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Certification: Defense Retiree & Annuitant System (DRAS).

Must possess a favorably adjudicated Tier I security investigation (formerly National Agency Check with Inquiries-NACI).
