This UI/UX Designer position is within our Power Tool & Lifting strategic business unit. We design, engineer, and manufacture professional power tools, both pneumatic and electric, for the assembly, industrial and vehicle repair markets, as well as engine starters, air motors, industrial lifting equipment, winches, and hoists. The person for this position will work from our R&D facility in Bengaluru, India. This designer has responsibilities for achieving high-quality user experience design for new product development (NPD), lifecycle, and value engineering initiatives. This person will work as an extension of our global Industrial Design team reporting to the ID manager in the US, and work closely with our senior ID/UX/UI designer and software development team. This person must be a team player, manage a multitude of tasks, communicate clearly, and be effective and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Qualification:

- University degree (e.g., design, psychology)
- 2+ years of UI/UX design experience
- UI design portfolio

Job Responsibilities:

- Deliver intuitive, user-centered interface design solutions for machine displays and mobile apps.
- Work closely with industrial design to ensure new designs adhere to UI design style standards.
- Collaborate with design, product management, engineering, and software developers to create a consistent user experience across our products.
- Test new designs and optimize existing designs for usability and intuitiveness.
- Conduct ongoing user research for continual improvement.

Key Competencies:

- Strong project management skills, particularly with organizing tasks and managing time to complete simultaneous multiple assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and to make timely decisions with sound judgement.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate designs through diagrams, storyboards, prototypes, and presentations.
- Demonstrated proficiency to understand and resolve usability factors in human-computer interactions.
- Proficiency using range of Adobe Creative Suite software including XD, Illustrator, Acrobat, Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Ability to communicate and present effectively within the organization.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, to take direction, and to direct the work of others including software developers.
- High initiative and the drive to continuously improve.
- Prior experience with industrial products is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
