**Position**: General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Nurse **Location**: Divine Grace Hospital, Medahalli **Reports To**: Nursing Superintendent / Head Nurse

**Job Summary**: The GNM Nurse is a vital member of the nursing team, responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients across various departments. This role requires a strong understanding of nursing principles, excellent patient communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The GNM Nurse will ensure patient safety, comfort, and well-being, adhering to all hospital policies and national nursing standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Patient Care**:

- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in accordance with medical orders and nursing protocols.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, observing for adverse reactions.
- Perform and assist with various nursing procedures (e.g., wound dressing, catheterization, IV insertion, vital signs monitoring).
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, and assist in rehabilitation.
- Maintain strict infection control practices.
- Ensure patient comfort, hygiene, and nutritional needs are met.
- **Observation and Documentation**:

- Accurately record and report patient's vital signs, symptoms, changes in condition, and all nursing interventions.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date patient records and charts.
- Report any critical changes in patient's condition to the medical officer promptly.
- **Communication and Education**:

- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear explanations regarding their condition, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and post-discharge care.
- Collaborate with doctors, other nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
- **Emergency Response**:

- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, assisting medical teams as required.
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) if certified.
- **Professionalism and Ethics**:

- Adhere to the professional code of conduct and ethical guidelines for nurses.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in continuing nursing education programs and professional development activities.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from a recognized institution.
- **Registration**: Valid and current registration with the State Nursing Council.
- **Experience**:

- Freshers are welcome to apply.
- Previous experience in a hospital setting or a specific department (e.g., ICU, Medical-Surgical, OBG, Pediatrics) is an advantage.
- **Skills**:

- Strong clinical nursing skills and theoretical knowledge.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, compassion, and patience towards patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
- Basic computer proficiency for electronic health records.
