**JOB PURPOSE**

SABIC Specialties is looking for creative and resourceful Chemist, who is seeking to utilize technical and project leadership skills to help business to achieve its growth aspirations. The opportunities in this role involves New/Adjacent chemistry based product/process developments critical to ensure continuous growth of Specialties resin based products. In addition role involves creation of next generation of solutions to meet the current and anticipated needs of the customers and market segments that SABIC Specialties serves.

Some of the particular job functions involves.
- Work in close collaboration with local and global project/cross-functional/support teams with an aim to garner required support for project. Communicates with internal stakeholders and engages externally to find unmet/anticipated customer and industry needs.
- Document technical findings in form reports and file relevant IP on developed technology.

**Responsibilities**:**
- Execute research projects and technical resolution cases for business units in SABIC Specialties. Conduct chemistry intensive lab scale experiments, which are critical to decision making for assigned project. Troubleshoot problems while experimentation and come-up with feasible technical solutions. Generate results, analyze same, validate/invalidate technical hypothesis and report out to project team/key stakeholders.
- Drive / Support translation of lab process (existing or pipeline products) to Pilot plant/external manufacturing sites. Collaborate with project/extended/support teams in order to gather support critical to advance project. Provide technical leadership to aid development of robust, scalable process, which produces desired in-spec product meeting customers’ needs
- Articulate technical report out to project teams, global stakeholder/leaders through verbal or nonverbal modes of communications.
- Regularly document research findings in form of memo reports/external articles
- Help develop/execute IP strategy to support business strategy and differentiate from competition. File relevant patents to ensure protection of inventions and proprietary rights.

**MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- Ph.D. in Chemistry (Specialization in organic chemistry is desired) or Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry or Master degree in Chemistry (with specialization in organic / polymer chemistry with relevant experience)
- Ph.D. with 3+ years of relevant experience or Master degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
- Thorough knowledge and experience on monomer and polymer process development and characterization.
- Experience in field of small molecules, monomer, oligomer and polymer process development (exposure to bisphenol, dianhydride, polyetherimide, polyester, polyphenylene oxide chemistry is preferred). Ability to trouble shoot process using fundamental knowledge and scientific methodologies. Demonstrated success in area of lab scale process development and process translation to pilot/commercial scale, project leadership/management skills and exposure to Six Sigma Tools is desired.
