Facilities Technician

**DESCRIPTION**

**Job Summary**:
The Facilities Technician - Electrician - Level III is responsible for servicing, supporting, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment within the facility. This role requires the technician to perform electrical preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, and support facility electrical distribution. Work is performed under mínimal supervision, and the technician must ensure all activities comply with safety standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Electrical Maintenance & Repairs** :Perform electrical preventative maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and startup procedures. Troubleshoot malfunctioning electrical and control systems to diagnose and resolve issues using electrical test equipment.
- **Electrical Distribution Support** :Utilize plant electrical distribution knowledge to assist with customer needs, including determining the location for additional loading or consulting with facilities personnel regarding equipment feeds.
- **Facility Operations & Emergency Preparedness** :Support facility operations, including electrical systems management, HVAC, and emergency systems such as fire alarms and gas detection. Assist with the site's emergency preparedness program by identifying risks and ensuring the maintenance of emergency systems.
- **Project Coordination** :Coordinate maintenance programs, including planning, scheduling, ordering materials, and tracking project progress. Use software to manage reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance work.
- **Training & Mentoring** :Provide guidance and training to apprentices and junior technicians on electrical repairs and troubleshooting methods. Participate in quality procedures for electrical systems and engage in continuous improvement projects.
- **Safety Compliance** :Maintain safe work habits in all daily tasks, reviewing reactive and preventative work for safety risks and ensuring compliance with safety procedures in all projects and maintenance activities.

**Education, Licenses, Certifications**:

- **Required**:

- High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering (DEE) or equivalent.
- **Preferred**:

- Certifications related to electrical maintenance and industrial facility operations may be required.

**Experience**:

- 6 to 8 years of relevant work experience in electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and facility systems support.
- Experience with industrial utilities, power distribution, and HVAC systems.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Skills/Knowledge**
- **Technical Skills**:

- Advanced knowledge of automation systems, including Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and SCADA technologies.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, engine test cell controls, and power substations.
- Familiarity with fire alarm systems, gas detection systems, and water mist systems.
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical and control systems, including PLC logic and programming.
- Experience with AVL Puma test cells and various types of dynamometers (e.g., eddy current, hydraulic, regenerative).
- **Electrical & Control Systems**:

- Capable of diagnosing and repairing electrical distribution and control systems for facility operations.
- Adept at implementing preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure system reliability.
