Soap & Detergent Chemist

**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and optimize formulations for soaps, detergents, liquid cleansers, dishwash gels and related products.
- Conduct laboratory experiments to test product performance, stability, and quality.
- Select and evaluate raw materials such as surfactants, builders, additives, and fragrances.
- Maintain documentation of formulations, test results, and batch trials.
- Work with the production team to scale up lab formulations to plant-level production.
- Monitor and troubleshoot product quality issues during manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (BIS, ISO, etc.).
- Research new ingredients, technologies, and trends in detergent and personal care chemistry.
- Collaborate with procurement and marketing teams to balance quality, performance, and cost.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in **Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or related field**.
- Minimum **2-5 years of experience** in soap or detergent formulation (FMCG or chemical manufacturing industry preferred).
- Strong understanding of **surfactant chemistry, emulsification, saponification, and cleaning mechanisms**.
- Hands-on experience with **lab equipment** such as pH meters, viscometers, and titration setups.
- Knowledge of **raw material sourcing and safety regulations (MSDS, REACH, etc.)**.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

**Preferred Attributes**:

- Experience with **eco-friendly or bio-based detergent formulations**.
- Familiarity with **industrial scale-up processes**.
- Creative thinker with attention to detail and product innovation mindset.

Commensurate with experience and industry standards.
