Job Brief

An **Education Counsellor**, also known as a guidance counsellor or academic counsellor, plays a crucial role in providing guidance and support to students regarding their education, career prospects, and social concerns. As an education counsellor, you’ll work closely with students, helping them make informed decisions about their academic paths and future goals.

**Responsibilities**:
As an education counsellor, your responsibilities may include:

- **Individual and Group Counselling**:

- Advise students in individual or group counselling sessions to address their academic, personal, and social needs.
- Help students devise attainable goals and develop useful skills or habits.
- **Assessments and Evaluation**:

- Administer assessments to gauge students’ capabilities, personality traits, and interests.
- Evaluate students based on their competencies, interests, and ambitions to identify suitable academic and professional pathways.
- **Preparatory Activities**:

- Assist in academic scheduling and course selection.
- Inform students about their academic and professional options, including courses, majors, and programs that align with their goals.
- **Collaboration**:

- Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators to identify potential learning or behavioral issues that may impede students’ goals.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop plans for realizing students’ educational and professional aspirations.
- **Resource Guidance**:

- Inform students and their families about resources that can help with realizing academic and career goals, such as tutoring, mentoring, and career exploration.
- Maintain confidential records about the students you assist, including assessment results, transcripts, and session notes.
- **Continuous Learning**:

- Engage in workplace training to stay up-to-date on trends, requirements, and opportunities for students entering the workforce or pursuing higher education.
