**Job Purpose**:
1.To support SH Materials in ensuring smooth plant operations and maintenance activities by coordinating & monitoring procurement activities for stores and spares items / various services within time and at optimal cost for following Sections (Plant E&I, Entire TPP- (MECH, ELEC, INSTR, PROCESS), Safety, IT, Quality, Drawing Office & Related Capex)

Job Context:
UltraTech Cement Ltd. is the largest manufacturer of grey cement, Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) and white cement in India. The company has consolidated capacity of 116.75 Million Tons Per Annum (MTPA)* of grey cement. UltraTech Cement has 23 integrated plants, 1 clinkerisation plant, 26 grinding units and 7 bulk terminals
Grasim Industries Limited (GIL) acquired Dharani Cements Ltd. (DCL), a 200 TPD capacity mini cement plant located in southern part of Tamil Nadu with vast mineral resources of lime stone deposits available nearby, in the year 1998 to strengthen it's position in lucrative Cement market of Tamilnadu & Kerala. Soon after acquisition, GIL started setting up of a Greenfield one-million-ton capacity cement plant as a separate division of GIL known as -Cement Division - South
- which was commissioned in April 2000 with state of art technology & ROBO (Auto) Lab, first of it's kind in India.

DCL was merged with GIL in Nov 2000 to utilise mineral resources as well as manpower & other resources optimally for both the Plants & in line with consolidation taking place in Indian Cement Business. The new plant has advantage of lower power & fuel consumption & operations have stabilised in the least time. The Unit has to it's credit obtaining ISO 9001-2000 Certification in July 2001 & EMS 14001-1996 Certification in October 2001 i.e within one & half year of start of operations GIL(South) is a state of art plant with latest technology featuring an assemblaze of fuzzy logic, X-Ray analyser and CEM SCANNER operating with least a man power producing a range of premium brand of cement.The technical know
- how and main equipments were obtained from Fuller, Losche & KHD.

Job Challenges:

- Due to Aging of plant & Equipment, arranging required spares will be tough as the OEM of those Spares will either be Not in operation or obsolete.
- Identifying reliable & Genuine suppliers who can supply material which are Equivalent to existing OEM and get the material from them
- Major OEM pertaining to RDCW Plant are located in North India which Increases Transit Lead Time of Material. Which Increase Pressure on team for arranging material on time
- . During shutdown and sudden breakdown, there is a challenge to procure and arrange material on time due to remote location of unit.
- Improper inventory planning by Technical teams makes it difficult to arrange spares, as they will be required urgently at site.

- Purchase - Planning, organizing and controlling all related activities
- Scrutinize and classify indents as local purchase, CPC purchase.
- Follow up for purchase with vendors / CPC.
- Preparing documents for Techno commercial evaluations.
- Preparing documents for commercial negotiation.
- Organise meetings with users (Internal customers) for better understanding of requirements.
- Take feedback from internal customer.
- Take corrective action for improving internal customer satisfaction.

- Procurement - Monitor timely delivery of stores & spares procurement & cost-effective purchases
- Explore alternate markets/ suppliers and products.
- Develop alternate supplier to OEM without compromise on quality.
- Keeping close contact with stores for time receipt of material.
- Study the consumption pattern and discuss with vendor for rate contract.

- identification of new vendors for quality, cost and delivery improvements.
- Locate alternate vendors.
- Evaluate all vendors as per defined SOP’s.
- Prepare new vendor’s documentation and get approved as per SOP.
- Assessing the performance of the vendors based on various criterions such as percentage for rejections, quality improvement rate, timely delivery & credit terms.
