- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating theatre, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
- Assist in the preparation and setup of the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and in proper working order.
- Perform pre-operative assessments of patients, including vital signs monitoring, medication reconciliation, and verification of surgical site and procedure.
- Assist anaesthesiologists in administering anaesthesia, monitoring patients' responses to anesthesia, and maintaining airway management and hemodynamic stability during surgery.
- Position and prepare patients for surgery, including positioning on the operating table, draping, and skin preparation, while ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons during surgical procedures, passing instruments, sutures, and supplies as requested, and assisting with haemostasis, wound closure, and other aspects of surgery.
- Monitor patients' physiological status and responses to surgery, including vital signs, fluid balance, and pain management, and intervene promptly to address any deviations or complications.
- Provide post-operative nursing care to patients in the recovery room or post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU), including assessment of consciousness, airway, circulation, and pain control.
