Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth
**Principal Responsibilities**
- The SVP-Acquisition Risk is responsible for the management of pre and post-acquisition risk management for unsecured lending products viz. Credit Card, Personal Loans and Personal Line of Credit with a view to manage within the annual Loan Impairment Charge plan.
- The incumbent will be the guardian of customer onboarding policies, processes and systems, the most significant need is to fulfill and manage front-end risk effectively while attracting and retaining profitable customers.
- Drive innovation, leverage industry solutions (e.g. India Stack) to deliver digital onboarding journeys. Support strategic initiatives like straight through processing for operational efficiencies.
- Manage activities like portfolio analysis, recommendations, and approval of portfolio actions to both eliminate unwanted risks and drive portfolio growth in support of asset optimization and maximization of income and risk adjusted revenue.
- Drive portfolio strategies (Risk Based Pricing, Credit Line Management, Authorization Strategies, Cross-Sell Initiatives) and work closely with the Collections Team (Local and Regional) to drive strategies on Collection flows and Recoveries including Debt Workout Solutions like Re-age, Settlements and Restructuring and assist in driving efficiency and improving collection productivity across Cards and Retail Assets.
- Work closely with cross functional teams (UW, Operations, ERM etc.) to ensure the right controls during implementing acquisition policies.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders in Business, Finance, Operations and Regional /Global Risk
- Manage Internal Audit and external Regulators
- Lead the Unsecured Risk team to deliver above outcome; develop and coach talent.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of experience with 5 years of Credit Cards policy management.
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics/ statistics/ economics/Engineering or equivalent; Master’s degree is desirable. PhD is a plus.
- Strong understanding of unsecured lending products like Credit Card, Personal Loans and Line of credit
- Prior experience in managing risk activities in retail lending and portfolio is essential
- Familiarity with credit risk concepts like loan impairment charges (LIC), risk adjusted returns(RAR), Return of RWA (RORWA) etc. is required
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong people management skills
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders at a level of CXO or similar and provide push back as necessary
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to grasp new concepts quickly
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior project management & people management experience is a must
