**Roles and Responsibilities**
1. **Diagnosis and Treatment of Periodontal Diseases**
- **Assess and diagnose** conditions such as gingivitis, periodontitis, and other gum-related diseases.
- **Develop treatment plans** tailored to individual patients, aiming to control and prevent further progression of periodontal diseases.
- Use **scaling and root planing** (deep cleaning) to treat early stages of gum disease.
- Perform **non-surgical treatments** such as root surface debridement to remove damaged tissue.
2. **Surgical Procedures**
- **Gum Grafting**: Perform procedures to replace or repair damaged gum tissue, often due to gum recession.
- **Bone Grafting**: Carry out bone augmentation procedures for patients with bone loss around the teeth or to prepare for dental implants.
- **Flap Surgery**: In severe cases of gum disease, periodontists perform flap surgery to lift the gums, remove tartar, and secure the gums back in place.
- **Crown Lengthening**: Remove gum tissue to expose more of the tooth for restorative or cosmetic procedures.
3. **Dental Implants**
- **Placement of Dental Implants**: Plan and surgically place dental implants for patients missing one or more teeth.
- **Implant Maintenance**: Periodontists help with the long-term maintenance of implants, ensuring the surrounding gum and bone tissue remain healthy.
- **Bone Grafting for Implants**: When necessary, perform bone grafting to ensure sufficient bone structure to support implants.
4. **Management of Complex Cases**
- Handle **complicated periodontal cases**, including those involving severe gum disease or bone loss.
- Work on patients with systemic diseases like diabetes or heart conditions that may complicate oral health.
- Collaborate with general dentists and other specialists for **comprehensive treatment plans** involving multiple areas of dental care.
5. **Cosmetic Periodontal Procedures**
- **Gum Contouring**: Reshape uneven or excessive gum tissue for a more aesthetic appearance.
- Perform procedures to correct **"gummy smiles"** or improve the appearance of the teeth and gums.
6. **Patient Education and Prevention**
- Educate patients on the importance of oral hygiene and techniques to prevent periodontal disease.
- Provide **post-surgical care instructions** and follow-up to ensure proper healing and recovery.
- Guide patients on proper brushing, flossing, and the use of antimicrobial mouthwashes to manage gum health.
7. **Collaboration with Other Dental Professionals**
- Work closely with **general dentists, orthodontists, and prosthodontists** to coordinate treatments, especially in complex cases involving implants or extensive restoration.
- Provide input in **multi-disciplinary dental treatment plans**, ensuring that the health of the gums and bone is prioritized.
8. **Use of Advanced Technologies**
- Utilize **laser therapy** for mínimally invasive periodontal treatment.
- Employ **digital imaging, cone-beam CT scans, and other advanced diagnostic tools** to assess gum and bone conditions and plan treatments.
**Soft Skills and Additional Responsibilities**
- **Communication**: Effectively communicate with patients to explain diagnoses, procedures, and post-care instructions.
- **Compassion and Empathy**: Provide emotional support to patients, especially those undergoing invasive procedures.
- **Continuing Education**: Stay updated with the latest techniques and developments in periodontics and implantology.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
