About the role

We are looking for a highly artistic person with a passion for digital technologies. A person who can think differently and should be able to draw, paint and work on digital software in a variety of styles and mediums. At Jupiter we are building a new age personalised mobile-first, AI-based digital banking platform. We are a fast-paced tech startup that relentlessly innovates and wants to make payment delightful and predictable.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Collaborate with product designers to communicate compelling stories through visuals.
- Identify flows and tasks our users are struggling to perform and make them easy to understand through simple visuals and narratives.
- Over all you’ll be responsible to arrive at a unique and consistent look and feel for the app through illustrations
- Design simple to understand icons, spot illustrations and make the app look fun and delightful.
- While not illustrating, you will educate teams about the importance of storytelling through visuals and images. Once in a while when you feel adventurous, you’ll collaborate with marketing on specific campaigns.
- Churn high volume of illustrations with many variations within shorter and sharper feedback loops.

**What you’ll need**:

- 3 to 5 years of experience as a graphic designer / illustrator.
- A skilled hand to illustrate beautiful looking illustrations.
- You’ve a very unique style but at the same time versatile enough to adapt new styles and mediums
- You’ve great sense of anatomy, perspectives, color theory, alignment, typography and layouts.
- You are comfortable to work within constraints and consider each constraint as challenges to push your sensibilities of design.
- You’ve a good understanding of personas and your users which you identify with research and ongoing data analysis.
- You love sharing your insights, presenting your work and writing compelling blog posts to share your work within the design and art community. You are comfortable with ambiguity

**Good to have**:

- Fintech experience
- BFA or a MFA degree
- Experience working in fast-paced startup environment
- You have a great command on English language and should be able to support your visual storytelling with smart communication.

**This isn’t for you if**:

- You wish to focus on people management.
- You will grow as a design evangelist but the initial scope is to deliver as an individual contributor.
- This is your first job in the digital space. We’re a small team and a fast-paced company, so we need someone to hit the ground running.
- You like top-down direction and just want to work on strategy and no execution
- You are not comfortable with churning high volume of variations with shorter feedback loops from peers and Sr. Designers.

**Our hiring process**:

- Initial telephone round with Recruiter (30 mins)
- Portfolio round with Head of Design - (60 mins) - We insist on having a website or 1 case study which you are proud of. We do not entertain resumes with no portfolio or google drive links where we have to dig PNGs and JPGs.
- White board design exercise with Head of Design (60 minutes)
- Product thinking round with a Product Manager (60 minutes)
- Final HR round (30-60 minutes)
