**The Centre for Social and Behaviour Change (CSBC), Ashoka University** : CSBC was founded by and is part

of Ashoka University, India’s leading liberal arts university, and is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Since our inception, we have been dedicated to expanding and sharing knowledge and underscoring behavioural

science’s role in building public policies that directly impact society. We seek to establish a leading Indian institution

driving behavioural change measures for people and communities in need. We advance the science and practice of

behaviour changes, harnessing cross-disciplinary expertise to improve outcomes in nutrition, sanitation, maternal

health, family planning, and financial services through a mix of behavioural change programmes, foundational research

**Behavioural Insights Unit of India, NITI Aayog** To introduce a novel paradigm of behaviourally informed policy

design and implementation in India, NITI Aayog partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and

Centre for Social and Behaviour Change (CSBC) in 2019 for instituting the Behavioural Insights Unit of India (BIU).

The BIU is a vibrant community of individuals from research, policy and consultancy backgrounds. As the first BIU in

South Asia, we shoulder the dual responsibility of introducing behavioural insights to the mainstream policy narratives

of India, and also carefully deconstructing the Indian policy ecosystems for the rapidly growing behavioural science

community worldwide.

Project context: One of BIU’s mandates is to conduct cross-cutting academic research in policy relevant topics such as

gender, financial inclusion, climate, health, education, etc. Through research in these fields, the BIU aims to answer

pressing questions which may be relevant not only for the academicians and scholars but also to policy making in the

country.

**Overview of the role**: The Research Intern will report to Sheral Shah (Senior Research Associate) and work closely

with the lead of NITI - BIU, Dr. Shagata Mukherjee. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in

development economics and behavioural science looking to develop top-level research and data skills. This is also a

projects across various sectors***

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Conduct in-depth literature reviews and other secondary research
- Assist in data cleaning and management
- Assist in conducting empirical analysis using STATA
- Assist in drafting reports, creating presentations and other products
- Provide assistance on other relevant tasks as and when required

**Duration**:3 months with the possibility of extension, starting ASAP

**Eligibility / Education Qualification **:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, development economics,

Behavioural economics or any other related field

**Competencies**:

- Proficient in managing data and conducting basic statistical analysis on STATA
- Self-driven and motivated

**Skill Sets **:Strong written and verbal communication skills***
