**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Directs and coordinates the activities of the production department(s) to obtain optimum efficiency and maximize profits.
- Proactively pursues continuous improvement opportunities in the production and distribution environment and quickly implements remedies to issues that might prevent meeting or exceeding performance goals.
- Drives organizational objectives to department and value streams through subordinate managers and supervisors.
- Responsible for costs, methods, safety, operations, quality, and quantity of production output.
- Owns production planning, multi department scheduling and maintains manufacturing systems that meet the needs of the production departments.
- Plans, designs, prioritizes, and implements initiatives that result in continuous improvement of customer satisfaction, manufacturing efficiency, and profitability for the production departments over all shift schedules.
- Manage department/shifts by providing daily coaching, oversight, and troubleshooting, training, performance reviews, and providing performance feedback to employees to ensure all performance goals of the plant in relation to safety, waste, quality, and productivity are achieved.
- Create and manage performance metrics delivering overall improvement in asset utilization, yield and overall machines effectiveness.
- Coaches and directs the efforts of direct reports to develop and implement plans to continually evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of their areas of responsibility.
- Use the results of these assessments to improve departmental and company-wide processes.
- Structure the operating department to enable the manufacturing of products that meet customer specification, On Time Delivery (OTD), and competitive costs.
- Controls and reduces the cost of manufactured products by controlling material, direct labor, and overhead costs.
- Creates increasing customer satisfaction via reduced lead times while simultaneously minimizing the value of raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory.
- Oversees the maintenance of appropriate levels of manufacturing capacity.
- Participates in and contributes to the strategic and operating plan processes at the plant level.
- Creates, manages, and executes department level goals and objectives for self and team that align to the Coburg and Pacific Headwear strategic and operating plan.
- Leads and facilitates Quick Custom in production environments with an emphasis on results and team engagement.
- Drives improvement initiatives for value stream improvement and scrap reduction.
- Participates in the review of product designs and techniques to ensure that new styles are designed for manufacturability.
- Ensures that a safe work environment is provided for departmental employees.
- Manages team in a manner that creates positive moral, encourages initiative, and facilitates the attainment of employees’ full potential.
- Practices good manufacturing practices in accordance with regulatory compliance and requirements.
**Skills/Qualifications/Education/Licenses & Certifications**:
- BS in engineering or science or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 10 years’ management experience in operations and manufacturing.
- Outstanding leadership competencies demonstrated through a solid history of career progression.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organizational structure.
- Ability to matrix manage at all levels, communicate a clear and compelling CI, utilizing business excellence platform, agenda, and influence others to support timely achievement of initiatives and goals.
- Experience managing manufacturing highly-quality products.
- Experience designing and implementing manufacturing processes.
- Experience defining operational strategy and leading implementation initiatives.
Excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, analytical problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal two-way communication skills.
- Strong change management skills and experience.
- High level of passion and enthusiasm to lead Customer Centric service manufacturing Team.
- Approachable and relationship oriented.
- Must have working knowledge of facilities equipment, operations and management.
- Experience with developing and monitoring production strategies and performance metrics.
- Understand budget development and monitoring with knowledge of P&L for operations.
- Capable of problem solving, decision making and failure analysis.
