Overall Purpose of the Role:

- Creating effective and relevant market-wise new product requirement plans and briefs and build appropriate designs to cater to these requirements.
- Understanding the jewellery design-aesthetic to help build differentiated product designs (segment and price-specific range, collections, etc.,)
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of product trends and customer requirements.
- Enhancing Ashok’s brand image and create aspiration for the brand designs.
- Interacting with Sales & Marketing / Merchandising teams for export and retail customers to create relevant products.
- Providing and sharing insights to in-house team as well as Vendors to create exclusive product ranges.
- Creating Design Language & Consumer Boards (product libraries).

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables:

- Study, design and prepare innovative Jewellery ideas using sketches and technically sound drawings.
- Identify and design innovative and attractive jewellery pieces in accordance to brand aesthetic along with target cost points.
- Modify and integrate new features in samples creatively by reviewing correcting products for technical accuracy from First Prototype to End for client approval.
- Continuous learning and development to thoroughly understand the jewellery manufacturing process.
- Attain detailed knowledge on metal technical grasp, materials and components to create clear, clean and meticulous designs and sketches.
- Develop well imagined and visualized jewellery designs utilizing various media platforms, e.g. magazine / digital images etc.
- Utilize specialized expertise of metals and design jewellery pieces accordingly.
- Research, identify and forecast market jewellery trends and arrange materials accordingly.
- Develop designs complying with creative, functional, timeline and financial goals as specified by customer (brand) Merchandisers.
- Ensure to complete projects as per product development guidelines and on time.
- Generate concept and platform boards for seasonal jewellery trends.
- Owning the Design calendar with full adherence in terms of new product launches (Collections / Refreshers / number of designs).

The right person - Qualifications, Experience Levels, Skills & Attributes:

- Relevant industry recognized or equivalent qualification. (Graduate / Post Graduate from NIFT/NID or relevant Institutes).
- 3-5+ years’ experience in handling the responsibilities outlined above.
- Knowledge and experience of working in either the Western mainstream export markets (UK, USA, Europe) alternatively Middle Eastern markets (UAE, Kuwait etc.)
- Creative with discernable artistic flair and a clear demonstrable understanding of metals, gemstones and other materials.
- Evidence of drawing and computer design skills, good hand

- Strong sketching ability with correct proportions, perspective, depth and volume to visualise products in 3D space.
- Drawing skill for creating flat view of a 3D object with accurate measurement.

- Experience of operating and influencing at customer and senior leadership levels.
- Knowledge and technical understanding of jewellery manufacturing processes, components and manufacturing techniques.
- Customer focus - High awareness of current and future trends in the jewellery market and creating innovative designs by anticipating customer needs for existing and potential customers. Able to convert market trends into Designs and products.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness: Understands the business requirements, has long term perspective, involves and engages others, respects value of individual contribution of various stakeholders including vendor partners.
- Dealing with Ambiguity: Ability to combine knowledge from various sources, constantly updating the knowledge base.
