**Job Title: Steward**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and areas (floors, walls, counters) are sanitized and maintained.
- Operate dishwashing machines and handwash as necessary.
- Clean and maintain storage areas for kitchen supplies and dishes.
- Dispose of trash and waste in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Ensure that the kitchen and dining areas are free from food waste or other hazards.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen appliances, ensuring they are cleaned and in good working order.
- Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
- Assist in inventory management of kitchen supplies, including restocking and organizing cleaning products, utensils, and other necessary items.
- Monitor and report inventory needs to ensure no shortages in supplies.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ensure that food safety protocols (temperature, cleanliness, storage) are adhered to during food prep and service.
- Assist in setting up dining areas, including laying out utensils, napkins, and glassware.
- Help with breaking down the setup after meals, ensuring everything is cleaned and properly stored.
- Work with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to ensure smooth operation.
- Assist other staff members as needed, ensuring an efficient workflow.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to follow safety and cleaning protocols.
- Good communication skills to collaborate with team members.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items when needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) as required.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and walking.

**Work Environment**:

- Kitchen, dining, and storage areas, typically in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- May involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on the establishment.
