Job Description for Librarian

**Position Title**: Librarian
**Location**: GIBS Business School, Begur Kopa Road
**Job Summary**

The Librarian is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the library, providing research and instructional services, and managing library resources. This role requires a professional with 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in library services, including expertise in cataloging, reference assistance, and collection development.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Information Services**: Provide reference and research assistance to patrons, utilizing various information retrieval systems and resources.
- **Collection Management**: Develop and maintain library collections, including print, digital, and multimedia resources. Make recommendations for acquisitions based on user needs and trends.
- **Instructional Services**: Conduct information literacy sessions for students, faculty, and staff to enhance their research skills and promote effective use of library resources.
- **Technology Integration**: Oversee the implementation of new technologies and digital resources to improve library services. Train staff and patrons on using library systems and tools.
- **Community Engagement**: Plan and coordinate community programs and events to promote library services and foster a love for reading.
- **Administrative Duties**: Assist in budget preparation, grant writing, and reporting for library initiatives. Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with institutional goals.
- **Supervision**: Mentor and supervise library staff, providing guidance on best practices in customer service and operational efficiency.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
- **Experience**: 5-10 years of professional library experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- **Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of library systems (e.g., integrated library systems, databases).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in technology-related tasks, including software management and troubleshooting.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
