**Roles and Responsibilities**

**1. Patient Preparation and Care**:

- **Assist in Patient Registration**: Greet patients and ensure they are registered correctly in the system.
- **Assist Patients with Eye Examinations**: Help prepare patients for various eye tests and examinations, including setting up equipment and explaining procedures to alleviate patient anxiety.
- **Pre-test Patient History**: Obtain detailed patient medical and eye history, noting any changes or new symptoms.
- **Prepare Patients for Procedures**: Assist in preparing patients for more specialized procedures, such as dilating eyes for an eye exam, or assisting during minor surgeries under the guidance of an ophthalmologist.

**2. Conducting Diagnostic Tests**:

- **Visual Acuity Testing**: Measure and record the sharpness of a patient's vision (using Snellen charts or automated vision testers).
- **Tonometry**: Measure intraocular pressure to help detect glaucoma.
- **Refraction Tests**: Assist in using automated or manual refraction tools to determine the patient's lens prescription (for glasses or contact lenses).
- **Retinoscopy**: Assist in performing retinoscopy to assess the refractive error of the eye.
- **Pupil Reactions and Alignment**: Help test pupil responses to light, and assist in measuring eye alignment using techniques such as cover tests.

**3. Equipment Maintenance and Sterilization**:

- **Ensure Proper Functioning of Equipment**: Check and maintain the ophthalmic equipment to ensure it is functioning properly before use.
- **Assist in Sterilization**: Help with sterilizing instruments and ensuring that all ophthalmic tools are cleaned and maintained according to hospital protocols.
- **Set Up Examination Rooms**: Ensure examination rooms are appropriately set up and well-stocked with required supplies (eye charts, lenses, tonometers, etc.).

**4. Assisting in Minor Procedures**:

- **Assist in Eye Procedures**: Help during minor surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, eye injections, or other treatments as per the guidance of an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
- **Post-Procedure Care**: Assist in post-operative patient care, ensuring that patients understand the follow-up care required, and monitor for any immediate complications.

**5. Administrative Support**:

- **Record Keeping**: Accurately document patient details, exam results, and observations in the patient’s medical record, following hospital protocols.
- **Appointment Scheduling**: Assist with scheduling patient appointments, tests, and follow-up visits.
- **Filing and Data Entry**: Ensure all patient information is correctly entered into the hospital’s electronic health record system.

**6. Patient Education and Counseling**:

- **Provide Education on Eye Health**: Educate patients on eye care, proper use of prescribed medications (e.g., eye drops), and any lifestyle modifications that could improve their eye health.
- **Explain Procedures**: Assist patients in understanding the tests and procedures they will undergo, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed.
- **Post-care Instructions**: Provide clear post-procedure care instructions, including guidelines for medication, rest, and follow-up appointments.

**7. Observing and Learning**:

- **Assist and Observe in Surgery**: Observe surgical procedures and learn how they are conducted under the supervision of experienced professionals.
- **Learning Clinical Techniques**: As a trainee, learn and practice various clinical techniques and diagnostic tests, including specialized exams like fundus photography, corneal topography, and OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) under supervision.
- **Work Under Supervision**: Perform clinical tasks as per the guidance of ophthalmologists, senior ophthalmic assistants, or optometrists, gradually building independence in procedures.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher

Pay: ₹5,000.00 - ₹6,000.00 per month
