**Job description**:
Refinitiv seeks a quantitative analyst / data scientist with programming experience in MATLAB, C, Java, Python or R. The role will involve the organization and validation of metals and mining datasets to be integrated into our main metals database. The metals research team covers the base and precious metals markets and use a mixture of algorithmic analysis and industry research to present market data, insights and analysis to the target audience.

**Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities**:
The work may include any of the following depending on the region the role is responsible for.
- Loading and manipulation of oil and shipping industry data into commodities database and integration of the data into our existing models.
- Data handling, data processing and programming
- Analysis of global oil industry and other macro indicators
- Develop, improve and run quantitative models
- Generate and send our weekly reports

**Qualification**:

- Higher education in economics, statistics, mathematics, physics or engineering

**Required Skills**:

- Strong academic records
- Proficiency in use of analytical software (Excel, MatLab) and experience with programming (ex. VBA, MatLab, Python or equivalent)
- Relevant market experience would be an advantage
- Superlative written and spoken communication skills
- You are analytical and structured, yet creative and able to find solutions
- You take initiatives, are self-driven and at the same time collaborative
- You are reliable, efficient and a team player
- Commodities market knowledge an advantage
