
Critical Care Technician

The Critical Care Technician (CCT) provides essential support to physicians and nurses in the care of critically ill patients in the ICU, Emergency Department, or other critical care areas. The CCT assists in monitoring vital signs, performing basic procedures, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Monitor and record patients’ vital signs (e.g., heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate).
- Assist in emergency procedures such as CPR, intubation prep, and resuscitation.
- Perform ECGs, blood glucose monitoring, and basic laboratory specimen collection.
- Assist with patient hygiene, positioning, feeding, and mobility as needed.
- Maintain and prepare critical care equipment (ventilators, suction machines, monitors).
- Accurately document patient information and interventions in medical records.
- Support infection control practices, including sterile techniques and equipment disinfection.
- Respond promptly to alarms, patient needs, and emergency calls.
- Assist in transferring patients to/from ICU or diagnostic areas.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, patients, and families.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent required. Diploma or certification in Critical Care Technology preferred.
- **Certification**: Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- **Experience**: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a hospital setting; prior ICU or emergency department experience is preferred.
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Strong knowledge of ICU protocols and patient care procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in patient care.
- Physical stamina for long shifts and patient handling.
