Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients for laboratory analysis, ensuring patient safety and comfort, maintaining specimen integrity, and adhering to all safety and quality standards.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Specimen Collection**
- Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other specimen collection techniques on patients of all ages.
- Identify patients correctly before specimen collection.
- Label all specimens accurately and ensure proper documentation.
- Collect and handle specimens following infection control protocols.
**Patient Care & Communication**
- Explain procedures to patients and address concerns to minimize discomfort and anxiety.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
**Quality & Safety Compliance**
- Follow laboratory and facility safety policies, including infection control and hazardous materials handling.
- Verify specimen quality and reject unsuitable samples following protocol.
**Equipment & Supplies Management**
- Maintain and clean phlebotomy equipment and work areas.
- Monitor inventory levels of phlebotomy supplies and request restocking as needed.
**Documentation & Reporting**
- Enter specimen collection data into laboratory information systems or manual logs.
- Report any incidents, patient reactions, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
**Collaboration & Continuous Improvement**
- Work closely with lab staff, nurses, and physicians to ensure timely specimen collection and delivery.
- Participate in training sessions and quality improvement initiatives as required.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in Phlebotomy (e.g., DMLT, CPT, or equivalent) preferred.
- Previous experience in phlebotomy is an advantage but not always mandatory.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, lab procedures, and safety protocols.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure.
Pay: Up to ₹12,000.00 per month
