- Quickly gather information during breaking news situations.

- Remain flexible to cover unexpected news events as they unfold.

4. **Editing and Proofreading**:

- Review written reports for clarity, grammar, and adherence to editorial guidelines.
- Ensure all sources are properly cited, and avoid plagiarism.
- Make necessary corrections before publication or broadcast.

5. **Developing Story Ideas**:

- Pitch and develop new stories or angles on ongoing issues.
- Follow up on leads and develop longer investigative pieces.

6. **Multimedia Skills**:

- Create or edit photos, videos, or graphics to accompany written articles.
- Use social media platforms to promote stories or gather information.
- In TV/radio news, reporters might also present news on-air.

7. **Maintaining Professionalism**:

- Follow ethical guidelines and standards in reporting.

8. **Staying Updated on Current Events**:

- Coordinate with colleagues during large news events or stories involving multiple perspectives.

10. **Adapting to Technology**:
