Payments - Data Scientist Associate

**The Data Scientist Associate**with the Payments Data and Analytics team is responsible for executing big data analytics projects in response to product innovation and customer support for Merchant Services. Tangible output of the programs are payments insights that drive optimization of authorization, for large merchants - as well as deep consumer and business insights. As the analytics mature, these insights can be productized into products for merchants (“insights as a service”).

As a Payments - Data Scientist Associate in our Payments Data and Analytics team, you will have the exciting opportunity to manage complex data sets, create insightful visualizations, and develop innovative analytics for the future of end-to-end payment optimization. You will work closely with our team and business partners, using your analytical and problem-solving skills to promote optimization and provide valuable insights. This role requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in a big data environment, deep knowledge of SQL, and preferably experience in automation and Python. **Responsibilities**:

- Managing complex data sets, using modern statistical and data exploration practices and creating insightful visualizations.
- Taking responsibility to establish a repeatable process to perform validation of various analyses as well as ad hoc support of large client-merchants. But you are also curious and creative, having the ability to organize stakeholder problems into clear business objectives for which you can create analytics solutions that deliver immediate value.
- Get your ideas off the drawing board, preferring to quickly develop prototypical solutions that you can hone and improve in collaboration with teammates and stakeholders.

**Required qualifications, capabilities and skills**:

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics or similar technical or quantitative field
- Minimum 3 years of working in a big data environment as a contributing member in self-directed roles
- Must have deep experience in SQL.
- Experience using Data Visualization tools such as Tableau
- Ability to clearly develop and document analytic requirements with stakeholders
- Exceptional analytical, problem solving, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work across functions as well as with outside parties to ensure alignment and timely implementation of initiatives
- Proven strategic thinking and creative problem solving skills with ability to translate strategy into deliverables
- Strong written and oral communication skills

**Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills**:

- Experience in the payments industry and/or technology-enabled industries is desirable
- Experience in automation and Python are preferred
