School Nurse:

**Purpose**: Assist the school doctor to provide health care for KIS students, staff and their dependent family members. Ensure hygiene and safety precautions are followed.

**A. Selection Criteria**
- BSc Nursing, registered nurse trained in all aspects of medical nursing
- Previous experience in hospitals and community health related areas
- Prepared to work in a residential school, be available in the Dispensary for at least 8 hours a day (44 hours/week) and be on call 24-hours a day

**B. Responsibilities**
- Responsible for outpatient care for Students, Professional Staff (and their families), Support Staff (and their families) and Operational Staff (and their families) at the dispensary under supervision of the school doctor
- Responsible for inpatient care for Students and Professional Staff (and their families) at the dispensary under supervision of the school doctor i.e. taking temperature regularly, giving out medicines, general nursing duties, and indicating meal #s to Food Services
- Maintain individual staff/student files with entries for treatment advised by school doctor, dispensation of medicines, etc.
- Obtaining drugs from medical stores per dispensary needs
- Filing investigation reports, etc
- Giving injections and other procedures as required by the school doctor
- Ensuring students immunization schedules are followed
- Inform residential parents when students are admitted to the dispensary, visiting students in the dorm when unable to come to dispensary
- Maintaining medicines and equipment inventory during and close of each semester
- Supervising nurse’s aides, ayahs and sweepers
- Weekly check on dhoby washed items, bill to Finance Office each month
- Keep the doctor informed of maintenance needs to be taken of during the vacation periods, etc
- Attending to registration of students at reopening of every semester
- Any other work as assigned by the School Doctor and administration
