Job Description: Roles and Responsibilities for Hospital Lab Technician
- Conduct diagnostic laboratory tests, including blood, urine, and tissue sample analysis, using specialized equipment.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
- Prepare specimens for testing by labeling, sorting, and storing samples appropriately.
- Perform quality control checks and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain accuracy.
- Record and report test results to physicians and medical staff within designated timelines.
- Assist in the collection of samples from patients, ensuring proper handling and mínimal discomfort.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of lab areas in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, ensuring availability.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with lab equipment and coordinate repairs or maintenance when needed.
- Stay updated on advancements in laboratory techniques and participate in professional development.
- Follow infection control practices and dispose of hazardous waste as per protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

Qualification Requirements for a Lab Technician:

- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT).
- Freshers with relevant qualifications are welcome for entry-level roles.
- 2-5 years of experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory is preferred for senior positions.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
