**Responsibilities**:

- Review inpatient medical records and documentation to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure.
- Prepare and submit electronic claims for inpatient services to insurance carriers, ensuring compliance with payer requirements, regulations, and hospital policies.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, obtaining pre-authorization for services as necessary to facilitate timely reimbursement.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable, identifying and resolving billing discrepancies, denials, and rejected claims in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to address billing inquiries, disputes, and appeals, advocating for accurate and timely reimbursement.
- Reconcile billing statements and payment postings, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data in the hospital's billing system.
- Stay informed about changes in insurance regulations, reimbursement policies, and coding guidelines, implementing updates and modifications to billing practices as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the billing department, revenue cycle team, and healthcare providers to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and optimize revenue cycle performance.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to junior billing staff, assisting with training initiatives, mentoring, and quality assurance activities as needed.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies in handling patient information, medical records, and financial data.
- **Requirements**:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in hospital billing, with specific experience in inpatient billing and insurance reimbursement.
- Knowledge of hospital billing processes, insurance verification, pre-authorization, claims processing, and revenue cycle management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify billing errors, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, insurance representatives, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders.
