**1.** They must be punctual and regular and arrive ahead of time
2. He should have total knowledge of hospitals standard procedure for handling patients in his/her department.
3. A duty doctor posted in this department is the first person who examines a casualty at the first instance.
4. He/ She will make all possible efforts to stabilize the patient. He will also be responsible to guide paramedical staff posted under him/her.
5. Along with his clinical work, he will also make sure that all required records are being maintained in hard copy as well as in computer software of “Hospital management system.”
6. It is important that while writing treatment clinical/examination findings, he will not use short abbreviations so that if patient turns out to be a MLC, there is no problem.
7. All cases received in emergency should be confirmed MLC or Non MLC and same needs to be documented. All formalities ( informing police/getting PANCHAMA done if required. Regarding MLCs will be handled with maximum care.
8. He/ She will be responsible to issue a “Death Certificate” to the next of KIN, If the patient is brought dead or dies while under his treatment.
9. He/ She will be collaterally responsible along with the duty nursing staff for sending an urgent call to the concerned Consultant/ SR.
10. He/ She will accompany all consultants or SRs coming to this department to examine a case to apprise him/her about the condition and treatment carried so far.
11. He/ She will also be collaterally responsible along with the charge nurse for all medical records generated in his department. Medical records should be dispatched to the MRD section, as soon as possible after the discharge of the patient. If the patient is transferred to the ward, these records will be a part of patient’s case sheet.
12. He/ She also be responsible for all medical documents of patient who die in a hospital or brought dead are completed in all respects and forwarded to the medical Records officer as soon as possible. Any delay should be properly recorded.
13. He/ She will ensure that all emergency medicines are available at correct location.
14. He/ She will assist / Perform day care procedures being carried out in this department.
15. He/ She will ensure that Defibrillator/ ECG machines are plugged in to electrical socket and are under charging mode. He/ She will make sure that all essential medicines /drugs/ consumables are stocked in as per check list.
16. As he is working as In-Charge of this department during his/her duty hours, he will make sure that all staff are in readiness always.
17. Any Incident worth reportable should immediately be conveyed to seniors.
