Description

Provide highly technical leadership and direction of UNIX/Linux based operating systems to high priority or special projects undertaken by the area. Check the work of other systems consultants. Recommend appropriate enhancements. Advise changes to enhance scalability. Act as the primary technical resource to client and IT staff in all phases of the development and implementation process. Provide in-depth technical and business knowledge to ensure efficient design, programming, and implementation. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


Basic Qualifications
- Good knowledge on ITIL Processes & Certification will be an added advantage.
- 5 years Unix Administration experience
- 2 years Unix patch and vulnerability management
- High level understanding of risks created by vulnerabilities
- High level knowledge of Active Directory.
- Knowledge of process to rollback patches as needed
- Ability to follow standard work and produce appropriate documentation
- 1 year of experience implementing with Hardened Baseline Configuration standards and controls
- High level understanding of risks associated with controls like CIS
- Able to independently troubleshoot issues

Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of Unix Administration experience
- 5 years Unix patch and vulnerability management
- 4 years of Unix baseline hardening
- Proficient in Ansible automation code
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Cloud computing experience and knowledge
- Ability to support a hybrid cloud model
- Experience with Service Now

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain and support specifications for complex operating system using engineering releases and utilities from manufacturer.
- Test, debug, and author documentation for the environment.
- Responsible for overall Unix operating system, such as sophisticated file patching, hardening, automation and highest complexity troubleshooting.
- Competent to work at the highest technical level on all phases of Unix operating systems.
- May assist other systems engineers to effectively utilize the system’s technical software.
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 -> 8, CentOS 7, Amazon Linux, AIX 7, HP UX, Solaris
- Knowledge of ITIL framework
