UX Interaction Designer

Our small UX team works with a diverse group of stakeholders around the world, including product managers, UX architects, systems analysts, developers, and users to build the best possible user experience.

About the Job

As a member of our UX team, you will play a key role in all phases of the product design cycle to iterate concepts to best meet user & business needs. This includes collecting & assessing input from users and stakeholders; designing solutions; delivering compelling sketches, workflow diagrams, wireframes, high-fidelity specifications, & UX prototypes; and presenting UX deliverables.

You’ll be challenged to learn new concepts in a complex technical domain that will enable you to effectively advocate on behalf of our users. These include Ciena sales engineers who plan networks for our customers, as well as end customers directly using our planning software to build their telecommunication networks. These include large multi-national network providers and large content providers.

You will be expected to organize your work to meet release deadlines while also proactively working to identify high impact areas ripe for UX improvement.

In your designs, you will leverage visual standards, and contribute to the evolution of Ciena’s UX standards to enhance usability and accessibility.

The team supports both hybrid (centered at Ciena’s Gurgaon campus) and remote working styles.

About You
- Extensive experience with user-centered design methods and principles, illustrated through user workflows, wireframes, simple UX prototypes, and high-definition specifications
- Experience creating UX prototypes to stimulate feedback
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - you are equally comfortable asking insightful questions, presenting your ideas, and taking feedback
- A solid understanding of UX design patterns, usability best practices & accessibility
- Fluency with various design tools in creating low and high-definition UX deliverables
- 3+ years industry experience in UX design
- A portfolio or samples of work that demonstrate your experience creating user-centered design solutions

Experience in the following areas would be considered highly valuable:

- Simplifying complex workflows in a highly technical domain
- Knowledge of IP, Ethernet, OTN or Optical networking
