**About this role**

Our Data Engineering teams are building our next generation Data platforms and are our main contributors to materialise BT Digital strategy.

This role ensures that our BT data flows into our Analytics platforms and they are available for exploitation of our Global Division.

You will be working in a very creative environment where you will contribute to the design and building of our new GCP Data platform infrastructure.

**You'll have the following responsibilities**
- Work closely with our internal teams of Solutions Architects, Data Designers, Source System Experts and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into a technical implementation and design documentation to build our Data Models.
- Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models.
- Metadata management and data governance.
- Coaching and mentoring other Data Designers.
- Assisting Platform Engineering manager by being DOA, suggesting proactively improvements, contributing to unblock possible issues.

**You'll have the following skills & experience**

5 Key skills identified as:

- Experience with analytic warehouse solutions, data movement from data stores into analytic warehouses, and with performance/scalability improvements.
- Hands on and deep experience working with Google Data Products (e.g. BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, AI Building Blocks, Looker, Cloud Data Fusion, Dataprep, etc.) and Terraform.
- Deep hands on experience creating Data models in high volume data environments.
- Experienced in deploying data models via automation/versioning tool (e.g. Erwin)
- At least 2 years experience in Big Query

Other skills beneficial for the role are:

- Proactively helping others and bringing people with you towards supporting our strategy.
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with Big Data, PaaS, and IaaS technologies.
- Experience with streaming data (e.g. Kafka).
- Any data Modeller certification is an added advantage.
- Experience using version control and CD/CI tools (e.g GITLAB, Jenkins, et al.)
- Communicate complex ideas effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge and experience of using Agile.
