National Researcher

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Cleaning, curating and analyzing large datasets with tools like PowerBI, Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.;
- Creating, editing and presenting data through visualization including but not limited to maps, charts, and graphs;
- Transforming data sets, quantitative and qualitative analysis into compelling story maps/visuals;
- Providing visual, technical and editorial guidance to multi-disciplinary teams in building digital assets targeting policy makers and other relevant stakeholders;
- Working closely with the project team and IWMI communications staff help provide relevant content to related reports and briefs.
- Create detailed reports on data sources, methodology, analytical techniques, analytical results and insights for stakeholders.
- Develop visualizations and presentations for dissemination of analytical results and derivation of actionable insight.
- Help to enhance the utilization of water-related hazards data to improve climate resilient and disaster risk reduction outcomes.
- Create wireframes, prototypes and sitemaps to communicate design components.
- Develop water risks data analysis visualizations and support data linkages to those visualizations.
- Develop user stories and mockups for data visualization.
- Build visual interfaces, shared visualization components, and a custom visualization that display interactive visual insights to the users.
- Perform coding and testing of data visualizations using open source or visualization packages.
- Perform data modeling, database development, and management.
- Ensures that validated data is implemented through dashboards and various reporting methods.
- Research data management and mapping plans consulted with stakeholders.
- Serve as the focal point for data management and coordination across CGIAR ClimBeR initiatives.
- Lead the team in technical design and architecture solutions.
- System development as per data management plans along with verification and validation in line with the production of maps and related products.
- Support the development of training modules on various digital tools, and knowledge products to support stakeholders.
- Guide principles for data visualization for all interfaces and tools built.
- Other duties, as assigned by WRDR Research Group Leader and Country Representative India.

**Requirements**:

- Master’s or Bachelor’s in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering.
- 5+ years of analytics experience with specific focus on visualization tools, methodologies, and/or responsibilities.
- Experience in HTML5 and CSS, modern JavaScript frameworks like Bootstrap, Angular.js, D3.js
- Knowledge in Tableau server and/or PowerBI to develop meaningful visualization.
- Strong web UI programming skills.
- Experience with spatial data handling from satellite data and associated tools, such as GIS.
- Good understanding of the principles of user centered design, design thinking and any other methodologies relevant to UI/UX design.
- Familiarity with typography, color, interaction design and fluency with Adobe tools.
- Excellent user interface design skills, including demonstrable knowledge on Graphical User Interface (GUI) layouts.
- Strong cartography skills.
- Expertise with charting and other data visualization techniques.
- Fluency with Adobe Illustrator, Excel and Photoshop.
- Ability and willingness to travel, as required.
- Creative vision, a passion for learning and willingness to adopt and share new ideas.
- Demonstrated passion, ability, and willingness to learn quickly and a problem-solving mindset.
- Collaborate with internal customers to establish requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
- Experience in storytelling with data and knowledge in principles of dashboard design preferred.
- Knowledge of data intelligence & analytics strategies best practices.
- Knowledge of database, ETL and data API concepts.
- Architecture the business requirements and processes and build universes - should have work experience in Universe Design Tool and Information Design Tool.
- Driven to achieve outputs and goals within agreed deadlines in a fast-paced environment and multi-cultural environments.
