The Operations Associate for Building Materials plays a critical role in supporting day-to-day operations, inventory management, logistics, and process optimization within the building materials sector. This individual will work closely with various internal teams, vendors, and suppliers to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the supply chain and distribution processes.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Inventory Management**:
- Monitor and manage stock levels of building materials to ensure adequate supply.
- Track inventory movements and assist with the replenishment of products to meet demand.
- Perform regular stock audits to ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining inventory control systems.
- **Logistics and Supply Chain Coordination**:
- Coordinate the transportation and delivery of materials from suppliers to warehouse or job sites.
- Work with freight and logistics companies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Assist in managing delivery schedules and resolve any issues related to delays or damages.
- Ensure compliance with shipping and receiving procedures, including proper documentation.
- **Vendor and Supplier Relations**:
- Maintain communication with suppliers to confirm the status of orders and deliveries.
- Assist in evaluating and selecting vendors to maintain high-quality supply chains.
- Build relationships with external suppliers, ensuring they meet quality standards and delivery timelines.
- **Process Optimization and Efficiency**:
- Identify and suggest improvements to operational processes, focusing on cost-saving initiatives and better service delivery.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational performance.
- Assist in streamlining workflow and operational procedures to ensure productivity.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports related to stock levels, order statuses, deliveries, and other operational metrics.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements related to building materials.
- Assist in preparing reports for upper management and assist with strategic decision-making.
- **Customer Service**:
- Provide support to customers by addressing any concerns regarding material availability, shipments, or order issues.
- Respond to inquiries and follow up on orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Support in managing returns, exchanges, or disputes related to building materials.
- **Health, Safety, and Compliance**:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures when handling building materials and overseeing logistics operations.
- Ensure all operational processes comply with industry standards and government regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- **Experience**:
1-3 years of experience in operations, supply chain management, or logistics within the construction or building materials industry.
- **Skills and Competencies**:
- Strong knowledge of inventory management and supply chain processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other inventory management software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of building materials and construction processes is a plus.
**Working Conditions**:
- Full-time position with standard working hours.
- Occasional travel to warehouses, construction sites, or supplier locations may be required.
- May require lifting or physical handling of building materials.
