A vessel planner plans, executes, and monitors a vessel's operations at a port. They ensure the safety of the vessel and its cargo, and work to optimize vessel utilization and profitability.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Plan vessel operations**: Prepare vessel schedules, stowage plans, and crane splits
- **Execute vessel operations**: Give instructions to vessels, order labor, and monitor vessel operations
- **Monitor vessel operations**: Ensure vessel allocation and utilization, and monitor vessel performance
- **Ensure safety**: Ensure the safety of the vessel and its cargo, and segregate dangerous goods
- **Ensure efficiency**: Ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
- **Ensure compliance**: Ensure compliance with safety guidelines, statutory regulations, and local port regulations

Skills and qualifications
- Degree education
- Experience in the maritime sector
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously
- Understanding of quay design and its impact on operational efficiency
