QA/qc Welding Inspector

**Job Title**: Welding Inspector - QA/QC Department

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Welding Quality Control & Inspection**:

- Conduct visual, dimensional, and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) inspections of welds.
- Verify welding parameters, consumables, and techniques meet project requirements.
- Inspect weld joints, materials, and fabrication processes to ensure compliance with Indian welding codes (IS Standards) and **RDSO (Research Designs & Standards Organization) guidelines**.
- **Compliance & Certification**:

- Ensure all welding operations comply with **IS, AWS (American Welding Society), ASME, and RDSO** standards.
- Review and approve welding procedures, welder qualifications, and welding performance records.
- **Testing & Defect Analysis**:

- Conduct and supervise various NDT methods, including **Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT)**.
- Identify defects such as porosity, cracks, and incomplete fusion and recommend corrective actions.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Maintain and update **QA/QC records, WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), PQR (Procedure Qualification Records), and WPQ (Welder Performance Qualification)**.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports, deviation reports, and corrective action recommendations.
- **Process Improvement & Training**:

- Conduct training sessions for welders to enhance quality standards and compliance.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance welding efficiency and reduce defects.
- **Educational Qualifications**: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- **Certifications**:

- **Mandatory**: CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI / ISNT / ASNT Level II (UT, RT, MPT, DPT).
- **Preferred**: RDSO-approved welding inspector certification.
- **Experience**: Minimum **5-10 years** of experience in steel fabrication, welding inspection, and QA/QC roles in the **heavy steel industry**.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting **GA, fabrication, and shop drawings**.
- Strong knowledge of welding metallurgy, welding processes (SMAW, SAW, MIG, TIG), and defect analysis.
- Familiarity with **ISO 9001:2015** Quality Management System.
- **Software Proficiency**: MS Excel, Word, and AutoCAD for documentation and reporting.
- **Soft Skills**: Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
