 Overview:
**Role & Responsibilities**:
**Senior AS/400 System Administrator**
**responsible for delivery of AS/400 (IBM i) IT Infrastructure elements on IBM Cloud hosted/and on-premise environments.**

**Responsibilities include***:

- Understand the client’s current overall IT architecture and AS/400 environment.
- ** Work with the client stakeholders in drawing out the IBM Cloud PowerVS implementation plan and complete out a detailed Project Plan to execute the same from the infrastructure setup standpoint.**:

- ** Support the migration to the IBM cloud by working with the client Application teams in the migration exercise from on premise.**:

- Working in Account Delivery, he would be the SPOC for iSeries project activity.
- Would be required to work closely with the Wipro & client Application team during the build/implementation and subsequent phase though he would not own the actual migration itself.
- Would be responsible to work closely with Azure Architects particularly in relation to Azure networking elements (like ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway) which would connect to the IBM Cloud.
- Should be familiar with at least one IBMi replication software like MIMIX, iTera, etc.
- Will directly report into the Account Project Lead and Cloud Delivery Heads.
- Will have dotted line reporting into the Mainframe Practice Director.

**Skills & Experience (Essential)**
- Engineering Degree with 10+ years in IT AS/400 System Administration support in a high demand-based, service-oriented business critical environment.
- Sound hands on experience in working on AS/400 environments as a System Administrator with experience in LPAR administrator, System Capacity & Performance tuning, OS & other third-party Software installation, upgrade, and maintenance.
- Given that the client IBMi environment will be setup on IBM Cloud (Power System Virtual Servers or PowerVS), a very sound understanding of this area of IBMi is very important since he will be solely responsible for provisioning and building the 3 LPAR environment on IBM Cloud.
- Should have awareness on Terraform scripting & generation of templates on IBM Cloud.
- Good understanding of AS/400 System connectivity to external SAN Storage devices and other interfaces.
- Experience working on other Cloud environments for IBMi such as Skytap on Azure or AWS cloud would be a great advantage.
- Experience of working in international business environments handling complex AS/400 environments either on-premise or on cloud.
- Knowledge of performing ‘Performance Tuning’ of the AS/400 environment. This includes query optimization, creating & fine-tuning indexes, access paths in conjunction with Application teams.
- Should have experience in leading an AS/400 HW/OS upgrade, migration, and build/implementation project.
- Should possess the knowledge and ability to do fail-over testing from Production to DR system in a HA software replication environment.
- Advanced knowledge using & administering MIMIX or any other similar HA replication software. Past fail over switch experience including journal analysis would be of added advantage.
- Good CL scripting skills is a requirement.
- Should be an Expert with hands-on knowledge and experience on various IBM Power System hardware.
- Should be confident of independently leading technical discussions with client and other internal Management stakeholders.
- Good and effective written and oral communication

**Certification (preferred)**
- IBM certification on IBM i/iSeries System Administration
- Public cloud certification (Azure/AWS/GCP)-nice to have.
