Respiratory Technician

Role & responsibilities
- Perform pulmonary function tests (PFTs), including spirometry, lung volume measurements, and diffusion capacity testing.
- Instruct patients on proper breathing techniques and positioning for optimal test results.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, such as spirometers, peak flow meters, and gas analyzers.
- Collaborate with pulmonologists and respiratory therapists to coordinate testing schedules and ensure timely completion of procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the purpose, risks, and expectations of the test.
- Ensure patient comfort and confidentiality throughout the testing process, addressing any concerns or questions.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines when handling equipment and performing invasive procedures.
- Assist with patient positioning, immobilization, and monitoring to minimize the risk of complications during tests and treatments.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
- Certification as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting pulmonary function testing equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
