**JOB DESCRIPTION OF STAFF NURSE**

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Direct patient care
- Carry out the procedures of admission and discharge of patients.
- Explain and orient the ward to the patients and also the relatives.
- Maintains personal hygiene and comfort of the patient
- Attends the nutritional needs of the patient and feeds the helpless patients.
- Implements and maintains ward policies and routines.
- Co
- ordinates patient care with other team members.
- Take rounds with doctors and see that the orders are carried out in time.
- Performs various technical tasks related to nursing care.
- Administration of medications on prescription or according to standing orders.
- Assist the doctor in various medical and surgical diagnostic procedures by preparing patients and get ready with required things.
- Collecting and sending of specimens for laboratory diagnostic procedure.
- Recording of vital signs, i.e. temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure.
- Prepare patient for surgeries and see that he/she is sent to operation theatre with all necessary papers and medications.
- Observe all patients conditions and take all patient’s condition and take sustainable action accordingly and/ or reports changes to ward in charge and /or to doctor.
- Give expert bed side nursing to all patients.
- Meet the spiritual needs of the patients by providing facilities for spiritual services.
- Attend last offices in case of patient’s death and arrange to preserve dead body in the mortuary, or hand over the body with respect to the concerned family members/ relatives/ authorities.

**WARD / UNIT MANAGEMENT**
- Helps the ward in charge to carry out her work or act as in charge during her absence.
- Maintaining general cleanliness of the ward.
- Supervise the duties of nursing aides, students and guides them and reports accordingly.
- Maintains the scheduled narcotic drug and registers.
- Maintains duty room equipment’s and instruments and see that everything in working condition.
- Maintain and check ward inventories.
- Take over from duty staff of the previous shift and hand over the report to the next shifting duty staff.
- Maintain all the records pertaining to ward/ unit.
- Take care of the patient’s case sheet and dispatch them within 24 hours.
- Keep the knowledge up to date.

**Salary**: ₹16,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month

Schedule:

- Rotational shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ernakulam, Kerala: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Nursing: 1 year (preferred)
- total work: 1 year (preferred)

License/Certification:

- Nursing License (preferred)
