Fire Technician

The Fire Fighting Workers in your company will be responsible for fieldwork related to the installation, servicing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers, fire alarms, and other fire safety products. Their tasks should prioritize quality installation, customer satisfaction, and safety compliance.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
1. Installation of Fire Extinguishers and Fire Systems:

- Ensure proper installation of fire extinguishers, fire alarms, and safety systems according to client needs and industry standards.
- Verify that all installations comply with national safety regulations (such as National Building Code of India (NBC) 2016, IS Standards, and local fire safety codes).
- Understand the types of fire extinguishers (water, CO2, foam, dry powder, etc.) and recommend the right type based on the specific hazards in the client's location (offices, factories, industrial plants).

2. Inspection and Testing:

- Inspect the installation site before starting work to identify any potential hazards (e.g., electrical risks, confined spaces).
- Test installed fire safety systems (such as fire alarms, smoke detectors) to ensure they are functional and meet the required safety standards.
- Perform pressure testing and hydrostatic testing on fire extinguishers when needed.

3. Maintenance and Servicing of Fire Extinguishers/Alarms:

- Conduct routine maintenance and periodic servicing of fire extinguishers and fire safety equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Replace or refill fire extinguishers as needed, ensuring all components (valves, hoses, and nozzles) are functioning properly.
- Keep records of maintenance, repairs, and refills done at client locations for future reference.

4. Safety Compliance:

- Follow all safety guidelines when handling hazardous materials (e.g., pressurized fire extinguishers, alarm system batteries, chemicals used in fire safety products).
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety gloves, helmets, and high-visibility jackets when working on-site, especially in industrial environments.
- Ensure compliance with both company safety protocols and local safety regulations during installation and maintenance work.
- Be prepared for emergency situations by knowing fire evacuation procedures and how to use the fire safety systems in case of an incident.

5. Client Communication and Customer Service:

- Communicate with clients regarding the correct usage and operation of installed fire extinguishers and alarm systems.
- Provide training to client staff if necessary, on how to use fire safety equipment in case of emergencies.
- Address any client concerns about installations or equipment functionality and offer solutions or upgrades if necessary.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

- Complete job sheets and service reports after every installation, maintenance, or repair job. This ensures that all activities are properly documented for future reference.
- Report any issues or defects found during installation or maintenance to the Safety Supervisor or office staff.
- Maintain a log of installed equipment, detailing the location, serial numbers, and date of installation or service for future reference and maintenance planning.

**Key Skills and Knowledge**:

- Basic knowledge of fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, and their installation.
- Ability to interpret fire safety codes and client-specific fire protection plans.
- Good communication skills to interact with clients professionally.
- Knowledge of safety procedures to protect themselves and others on-site.
- SSLC, PLUS TWO/DIPLOMA IN FIRE AND SAFETY(1 year/2 year)
- NEBOSH/ADIS is Prefferable
- Driving Licence(LMV) is Mandatory
