At Atlan, we started as a data team ourselves tackling problems like national healthcare and poverty alleviation with data science. (Check out our TEDx talk and case studies.)

**The problem**:After working on 200+ data projects, we learned how tough it was to scale data teams. Data teams are one of the most interdisciplinary teams ever created. They're made up of analysts, data scientists, engineers, business users - diverse people with their own tooling preferences, skill sets, and "DNA" that need to come together. This leads to
**collaboration chaos**.

We were awoken with crisis calls every second day for the minutest of issues — from troubleshooting why a number on a dashboard was incorrect to difficulties in getting access to the right data set Atlan started with us building tools to make our own data team more agile.

**These tools made our team 6x more agile**, helping us take on amazing projects like building India's National Data Platform used by India's Prime Minister. The best part — this was built by an eight-member team, the fastest project of its kind to go live, in a record twelve months instead of the projected three years.

**We asked, could the tooling we built for ourselves help data teams around the world? That's how Atlan was born. We're on a mission to help data teams around the world do their lives' best work.**

**What will you do?**:

- As an architect at Atlan, you will own a complete component of the backend system.
- You will be responsible for working with product/frontend/QA and other teams to understand what needs to be built/fixed and ensuring the refinement for these tasks happens in a way that’s optimal with the timelines and the tech standards to follow.
- You will get the opportunity to build systems keeping the 1-week, 1-month, and 6-month roadmap in mind.
- Making sure things are built in a generic way to power future development, but also making certain things don’t go overboard with over-engineering things.
- Keen to always learn: all the knowledge you’ve gained in the past should not stop you from learning more
- Experience in leading a team and mentoring people
- Should have a solution first approach to things: We look at how to leverage tech to solve problems..without having the tech stack as a barrier
- Should have a knack for documentation/communication. That’s how we thrive in a full-remote world.
- Should have good knowledge of various system design patterns and be able to decide how/when to choose one over the other
- Experience with any big data systems
- Experience working with Kubernetes
- Good Understanding of Platform, data structures, design, architectural and integration patterns, algorithms, and engineering best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Containers, Microservices and Web Components-based front-end frameworks.
- Good understanding of IT Security concepts, Security Models and their implementation.
- Enterprise Integration Patterns, Asynchronous services and Event-Driven Architecture
- Knowledge and/or experience working in an Agile delivery environment
- Have a good hold of any one programming language (Java/Python/Golang)
- Experience working with any cloud service provider (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- A background in AWS/ GCP / Azure / Big Data is desirable
