Purpose of the Job

Work with internal and external customers and stakeholders to create and maintain journal websites.

Main Activities and Responsibilities
- Maintain journal websites: Make changes to homepages and flat pages; check content and functionality of website updates; troubleshoot customer queries; set up new build-related functionality; report platform defects
- Create journal websites: Using web CMS or text editor, create journal homepage and flat pages; create and maintain database of metadata for each title; set up access and entitlements; integrate new designs into existing websites
- Meet team productivity standards and make improvements where possible: Create and maintain departmental procedures and documents; improve existing workflows; lead or participate in process improvement initiatives; locate and research potential tools to improve workflows
- Communicate with stakeholders: Work with stakeholders (web editors, editors, Production, technical teams) to create and maintain online journals and resolve problems
- Manage electronic production workflow: Work, with editors, Production, suppliers and EW, to manage the production workflow of all online journal article content, ensuring that deadlines and embargoes are met

Functional and Technical Competencies
- Understanding of XML, XHTML, HTML5, and CSS, including ability to create and modify as necessary
- Knowledge of Web CMS systems
- Familiarity with JavaScript and related server-side scripting languages
- Familiarity with video and audio content (Flash, MP3, MP4)
- Familiarity with mobile content (iPad/Android OS)
- Strong understanding of internet browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, and Edge and differences between them
- Knowledge of databases and web concepts such as domains and IP addresses

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experiences
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in related area of study preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in publishing and production-related field
- Recent work experience in a web content coordinator position
- Self-starter with ability to work and produce results independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to details and deadlines, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Possess general knowledge of print and web design theory, latest trends, and emerging technologies
