**Job Summary**:
The Maintenance Incharge will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of all school facilities within the organization. This includes ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure, in alignment with the needs of students, staff, and visitors. The role will require proactive management of maintenance teams, ensuring timely response to repair requests, and implementing long-term maintenance strategies for the school facilities.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Facility Maintenance Management**:
- Oversee the daily maintenance operations for all school facilities, including classrooms, administrative buildings, sports facilities, and other related areas.
- Ensure all school buildings, equipment, and infrastructure are well-maintained and fully functional.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other infrastructure.
- **Team Leadership and Supervision**:
- Supervise and manage the maintenance team, including technicians, cleaners, and other staff members.
- Assign tasks, provide training, and ensure that the maintenance team adheres to safety protocols and best practices.
- Coordinate with other departments to address maintenance needs and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- **Repairs and Troubleshooting**:
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and repair issues from staff or faculty.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and take corrective action.
- Ensure repairs are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner, minimizing disruptions to school activities.
- **Health, Safety, and Compliance**:
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the school’s maintenance activities.
- Regularly inspect facilities for hazards or maintenance issues, including fire safety systems, emergency exits, and other safety-critical areas.
- Maintain records of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- **Budgeting and Cost Management**:
- Manage the maintenance budget and ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards.
- Track and control expenditures related to maintenance supplies, equipment, and outsourced services.
- Prepare reports on budget utilization and suggest improvements for cost savings.
- **Vendor and Supplier Management**:
- Source and manage external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance tasks (e.g., landscaping, pest control, etc.).
- Ensure contracts are in place and services are delivered as per agreements and timelines.
- Oversee the procurement of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
- **Facility Improvement Projects**:
- Coordinate and manage small to medium-scale renovation or facility improvement projects.
- Work with school leadership to plan and execute projects that improve school infrastructure and learning environments.
- **Emergency Preparedness**:
- Prepare for emergency situations, such as building evacuations, power outages, or natural disasters.
- Maintain and regularly update emergency response plans related to building maintenance issues.
**Required Qualifications**:
- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, or a related field. A diploma or certification in building maintenance is a plus.
- **Experience**:
- At least 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in the maintenance of school facilities or educational institutions is highly desirable.
- **Skills**:
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and general maintenance practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in managing maintenance schedules, inventories, and budgets.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a school or facility setting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Certification in Facilities Management (e.g., IFMA or BIFM) or a related field.
- Experience working with school facility management software or asset management systems.
**Working Conditions**:
- Full-time position with flexible hours depending on the school’s needs.
- On-call availability for emergency maintenance issues.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, especially for large-scale repairs or maintenance projects.
