**Job Requirements**POSITION OVERVIEW**

Produce and deliver safety related Signalling design deliverables at a principle and system level in accordance with the client specific requirements, appropriate railway standards, technical constraints and Alstom company procedures liaising with the Designer Delivery Manager or Responsible Engineer.

Produce and deliver delivery strategies, Hazard identification, risk analysis, subcontract specifications, tendering and estimates, system definition, requirements capture, compliance management, safety assurance activities, project programme, commissioning support, design investigations, handback and project closeout.

Support the Designer Delivery Manager or Responsible Engineer with design assurance activities including support with audits, integration of designs, and work package management.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
Alstom Signalling Principle Designers are responsible for the following:

- Producing safety related Signalling design deliverables at a principle and system level in accordance with project programme, budgetary and technical requirements
- Producing safety related Signalling design deliverables at a principle and system level in accordance with appropriate railway standards, technical constraints, health and safety legislation
- Identify and capture Signalling requirements
- Support the Responsible Engineer with the identification of operational risks, construction risk, maintenance risk and system risk within design
- Ensuring the quality of all Signalling Design deliverables at a principle & design level
- Identify best practice signalling processes as part of a continual improvement plan to increase efficiency and minimize cost of non-quality and technical / delivery risk
- Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work
- Co-operating as far as is reasonably practicable, with any statutory requirement placed on the company. Ensure that you do not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of safety or welfare
- Identifying and communicating (to the Alstom Design Management team) any perceived shortcomings in Health and Safety arrangements, situations or processes that are considered to be serious or which may present dangers to yourself or others
- Working on safety critical or safety related activities only where this complies with relevant competence or authority to work, or implementing and documenting a robust mentorship plan

**POSTHOLDER REQUIREMENTS**

**Essential**:

- Free hand experience on Smartlock or Westlock Data Preparation and Verification.
- Knowledge on Smartlock or Westlock based architecture and system configuration.
- Knowledge and experience on Control table preparation for Smarklock or Westlock interlocking systems.
- Knowledge on TFM schematics preparation and verification.
- Knowledge on Principal test activities related to Smartlock and Westlock interlocking systems.
- Knowledge on SSI standards and process of interlocking Data preparation.
- Application of Signalling Design Process at a principle and system level
- Application of Network Rail Standards (or equivalent)
- Application of risk assessments
- Possesses effective communication skills
- Computer skills
- Able to produce electrical and electronic circuits, data sheets and specifications
- Time management and time keeping
- Management of task priorities
- Ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with customers and colleagues
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated

**Qualifications**:

- 1.1.160 IRSE Signalling Design Verifier License - Preferrable
- BSc or Beng degree level education in an engineering discipline with 10+ Years of signalling experience

Experience
- 5+ years of experience in SSI Data related design and verification activities
- Production of Signalling Design deliverables at a principle and system level on time and to budget
- Management of configuration and change control
- Understanding of Specifications, Signalling Scheme Plans, System Architecture

**Work Experience** Qualifications
- 1.1.160 IRSE Signalling Design Verifier License - Preferrable
- BSc or Beng degree level education in an engineering discipline with 10+ Years of signalling experience
