**About the Role & the Team**:
The Customer ML team builds data science products to power experiences beginning from the time you launch the app until the order is placed.
- On the storefront side, these include low-latency, high-throughput algos powering recommendations, personalization and monetization across the purchase funnel, Search relevance and ranking and extracting intelligence from our multi-entity catalog.
- On the revenue & growth side, we work on ML for computational advertising, intelligent discounting, customer lifecycle management, fraud/abuse prevention and new/incubating initiatives.
- We own or co-own several initiatives with a direct impact on the business. Our work involves the intersection of ML/DL, optimization, statistics, data mining, econometrics, graph theory and large-scale distributed systems. We are a group of data scientists, ML engineers and analysts.

As a Data Scientist I, you will be working closely with various teams within Customer ML team with an opportunity to build end-to-end data products
- from conceptualizing the mathematical problem to solve, assembling relevant data pipelines, iterating on ML/DL methods and taking them to production

**What qualities are we looking for?**
- Masters degree in areas related to Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research with 2 to 6 years of industry/research lab experience
- History of having shipped ML data products
- Results-oriented team player with a strong sense of ownership
- Experience working with software developers, product managers and overall SDLC
- Experience in Deep Learning and previous experience in startups and/or product-based consumer/internet companies is preferred

**What will you get to do here?**
- A Data/ML Scientist is responsible for solving tough, high-impact problems on the consumer side of things using machine learning, data mining, statistical analysis and related techniques.
- You will have excellent problem solving skills, ability to deconstruct and formulate solutions from first-principles.
- You will have strong depth and breadth in machine learning (theory and practice), optimization methods, data mining, statistics and linear algebra. We expect hands on programming experience (intermediate to advanced level PySpark, Python, SQL and beginner level Scala) on big data (familiarity with AWS and open-source ecosystem tools) with the ability to manipulate structured and unstructured data.
- We also expect that you will have/develop a strong understanding of the business & product and conduct data analysis to derive insights as a precursor formulating the problems and modeling with ML.
- You will have strong spoken and written communication skills, able to explain complex ideas in a simple, intuitive manner, write/maintain good documentation of your experiments/results.
