**The Role**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Sybase ASE databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Database Design: Collaborate with developers to design and implement database schema, indexing, and stored procedures.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize database performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions.
- Replication and High Availability: Design and implement replication strategies using Sybase Replication Server, ensuring high availability and data consistency.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and mínimal downtime.
- Security: Ensure database security, implementing access controls, auditing, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot complex database issues, collaborating with developers and other teams as needed.

**Required Technical and Professional Expertise**
- 8+ years of experience as a Sybase DBA, with expertise in Sybase ASE, Replication Server, and related tools.
- In-depth knowledge of database administration, performance tuning, and replication.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience troubleshooting complex database issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with developers, managers, and other stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Health check of Production Sybase ASE and UAT ASE.
- Monitoring daily Storage replication report for Sybase
- Checking daily database space report.
- Ensuring successful completion of daily full database backups and incremental backups.
- Checking Sybase ASE error log and Backup Server error log.
- Assist users with troubleshooting poor performing query to optimize performance.
- Troubleshooting database related issues and resolve the same.
- Plan and execute reorg rebuild for fragmented objects (Monthly basis)
- Assist with Sybase Database related tasks during DR Drill activity.

**Education**:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field

**Mandatory Certification**-Sybase ASE or Equivalent

**Nice to have**

Experience with other databases, such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
